Collagen use for sun damaged skin

Writer: Yuriko OnoYuriko Ono

In this article you will find more about collagen in sun damaged skin, and a modern topical product to help protect and reverse sun damaged collagen in skin on daily basis.

Studies have shown that sun-damaged skin exhibits significantly reduced collagen production, leading to wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity, and research suggests that applying collagen-based treatments can help restore collagen levels and improve the appearance of photoaged skin by stimulating fibroblast activity and promoting collagen synthesis; however, the effectiveness can depend on the delivery method and formulation of the collagen product used.

Reduced collagen in sun-exposed areas:

Studies have demonstrated that skin exposed to chronic sun damage has a lower concentration of collagen compared to protected areas, indicating that UV radiation disrupts collagen production.

Collagen peptides as potential treatment:

Research has explored the use of collagen peptides, smaller fragments of collagen, which can penetrate the skin more readily and potentially stimulate collagen synthesis in photodamaged skin.

Mechanisms of action:

Collagen peptides (e.g. hydroxyproline & hydroxyproline) work by activating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen production, and by reducing oxidative stress caused by UV radiation.

Topical application limitations:

No, not all collagen is equal because there are different types of collagen, the source and size of collagen can affect its effectiveness. There are now more studies on a much safer, alternative source of active collagen, mainly from aquatic life. Active collagen and its peptides FCP (fish collagen peptides) have already been extracted from the skin of salmon, cobia, hoki, tilapia or silver carp (link)

Combined treatments:

Some studies suggest that combining collagen treatments with other anti-aging ingredients like antioxidants (astaxanthin) can further enhance the benefits for sun-damaged skin.

A "novel" collagen treatment could refer to a new approach to stimulating collagen production in the skin, potentially involving advanced delivery methods like nano-sized collagen particles to enhance collagen regeneration in skin in a more precise manner.

STUDY:

Native PURE Collagen is recommended for, appearance medicine, plastic surgery, and beauty clinics. To be used in clinic and at home for face, neckline care and delicate parts of the body. This product is patented, contains biologically active and preserved collagen type I and III, extracted from fish skin (310Da) – the only one which is identical to human collagen – tertiary.

Native PURE Collagen is perfect to prepare skin for external environment and sun exposure (pre-rejuvenating properties), also to help recover and reverse sun damage in the skin (rejuvenating properties)

  • For all skin types

  • For all genders

  • For all ethnicities

  • For every age

  • To enhance all types and kinds of skin treatments

  • For aftercare (all collagen induction treatments / invasive and non-invasive treatments)

  • For everyday use (morning & night)

Capacity: 50 ml

Active main ingredients and its properties:

  • Aqua

  • Collagen - transdermal high-molecular-weight collagen with low-molecular-weight collagen. Stimulates fibroblasts to produce endogenous collagen in place of application

  • Sodium alginate  natural polysaccharides extracted from brown algae. Can help with collagen synthesis, remodeling, and promote re-epithelization

  • Benzyl glycol - is found naturally in some fruits, such as peaches, apricots, and cranberries, as well as teas. Hydrates skin: attracts and retains water to improve skin texture and feel. Enhances moisturizing effects when used with hyaluronic acid.

  • Ethylhexylglycerin  compound produced from plant sources, typically coconut. Helps condition skin, improves hydration without leaving it feeling sticky, has skin-revitalizing properties. Helps to purify the skin – it helps to keep skin free of organisms that might harm it.

  • Raspberry ketone – a compound found in red raspberries that improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles. Raspberry ketone may increase skin elasticity by increasing the production of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in the skin (study). It may reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. Raspberry ketone's antioxidant properties may help fight free radicals and improve skin appearance. Has anti-inflammatory properties and may help improve skin biology.

  • Trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate (EDDS)Prevents metal ions from adhering to skin, improves skin health. Protects skin from UV radiation.

Direction for use:a) in the clinic: apply directly after a treatment to enhance to benefits b) at home: apply onto damp skin 1-2 pumps twice a day to maintain benefits after a treatment and/or prejuvenating and rejuvenating purposes.

Due to its biological activity, store collagen gel away from direct sun and in temperature up to 37 Celsius.
